From the principal:
As I begin my 30th year as an employee of Tulsa Public Schools and my 6th year as principal of the former Columbus Elementary and the current Dolores Huerta Elementary School, I am excited about the whole school reset we are going through. I feel honored to lead the staff and students into a new phase in the amazing history that has been established as Columbus. At Dolores Huerta Elementary School, it is our goal to makes all of our students and families feel welcomed and respected.
I am a graduate of Tulsa Public Schools and attended Salk Elementary, Byrd Jr. High, and Memorial High School. I started my teaching career at Alcott Elementary in 1989 before moving to Bryant Elementary. I was privileged to serve at the Fulton Professional Development Center as coordinator for Elementary Reading. I later worked as an Instructional Coach before being chosen as principal at Columbus. I have degrees from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and Oklahoma State University. My two daughters are graduates of Tulsa Public Schools and I currently live in Tulsa with my husband and two precious furbabies.
It is my goal to ensure that every student has access to an amazing education provided by the highest quality teachers. I love Tulsa, TPS, and Dolores Huerta Elementary School!
