About Us

Welcome to Dolores Huerta Elementary!

We are committed to engaging all learners in meaningful learning experiences that meet the highest educational and ethical standards in a caring, collaborative learning community supported through partnerships with parents and families, businesses, civic organizations, and higher education. Students leave Dolores Huerta Elementary with a love for learning that will carry them through the rest of their educational career and life.

An Inclusive School Community

Named for American civil rights activist Dolores Huerta, our school seeks to be an environment that is empowering and welcoming to all. We currently employ two English as a second language teachers, a bilingual parent facilitator, and on-site bilingual staff to support our Spanish-speaking students and families. In addition, we work with the YWCA to offer English classes for our students' families, and we partner with the Latin American Chamber of Commerce to help parents find employment and medical resources.

We utilize Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), a school-wide focus on developing and rewarding students for positive behaviors. By focusing on prevention rather than punishment, we are able to keep students engaged and in school. Our goal is to educate the whole child by meeting his or her social, emotional, and academic needs. With strong social and emotional skills, our students will be able to set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
